CREATE are the UK’s leading charity empowering lives, reducing isolation and enhancing wellbeing through the creative arts.

Their professional artists run creative arts projects with children and adults facing challenges in their lives. They are given a chance to express themselves, build skills, meet other people and nurture their well-being through animation, dance, drama, music, painting, photography and a host of other art forms.

They know that unleashing creativity ignites imaginations, develops confidence and builds relationships whilst also believe that everyone – regardless of circumstances, behaviour, age, gender, race or disability – should have access to the power of creativity.

The SJLCT Trustees agreed that they would like to consider making a further donation to CREATE for their Young Carers’ Workshop programme, just along similar lines to previous grants. In the past our charity also contributed to the Charity through Woodford Homes for a series of Create workshops to take place in Woodford Homes. It is a series of workshops to encourage the young people out of their rooms and to connect to one another through workshops. We funded Create to give a series of workshops to help prepare the 4 young people and their care practitioners to take the kids to South Africa for a once in a life time trip to help open their horizons.

With funding from Sarah Jane Leigh Charitable Trust, Create delivered inspired: arts, a multi-art-form programme with young carers in Bristol and Ealing & Hounslow. The workshops culminated in informal sharings and recordings at the end of each artform, which were attended by participants’ family and friends, and staff. As part of this programme, Create delivered change:matters, a project enabling young carers to improve their financial literacy, creativity, social skills and well-being.
