Sustainable Stays, Lasting Impact – The Jamie’s Farm Cabins

At Jamie’s Farm, we remain committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable young people, and Jamie’s Farm sustainable stays now play an essential role in supporting that mission. During our 2021 Trustee Strategy Away Day, our Board and Executive Team visited the remarkable cabins that our founding trustee, architect Roderick James, created with interior designer Amanda Markham in West Scotland. Because these cabins inspired us so strongly, the team began to imagine how a similar concept could strengthen our work. We asked ourselves an important question: What if we brought this idea to our own farms and created a sustainable income that supports our therapeutic model?

Three years later, we feel proud that this vision has become reality. We launched our first cabins at Jamie’s Farm Monmouth, and the success of these Jamie’s Farm sustainable stays continues to exceed expectations. These beautiful spaces allow us to diversify our income in a way that does not disrupt the work we do with young people. Moreover, they ensure that every penny we generate goes straight back into running Jamie’s Farm, supporting financial resilience while maintaining the integrity of our therapeutic programme.

A New Chapter for Jamie’s Farm Monmouth

We now offer the cabins year-round through Airbnb, and they generate crucial funds while we preserve the calm, structured environment our young visitors need. Because financial sustainability matters more than ever for charities, this model allows us to grow with confidence. Additionally, the approach lets guests enjoy our extraordinary landscape without compromising the daily experience of the young people who rely on Jamie’s Farm’s uninterrupted routine.

Before construction began, we knew we needed appropriate support to deliver the project responsibly. Thankfully, our long-standing partnership with the Sarah Jane Leigh Charitable Trust (SJLCT) made this possible. Their belief in our vision, and their understanding of the long-term impact we aim to achieve, gave us the stability required to move forward. Quite simply, the SJLCT turned this idea from a promising concept into a completed project. Since we value transparency and responsible planning, their support allowed us to proceed confidently and deliver something truly meaningful.

Since opening, the cabins have earned outstanding feedback. Guests consistently praise their experience, and they have already given over forty five-star reviews. One delighted guest even proposed marriage during their stay. These joyful moments demonstrate how the cabins help visitors create lasting memories, while also supporting our young people. Because we reinvest every generated pound immediately, these funds now help our Monmouth farm operate sustainably far into the future.

A Partnership That Strengthens Young Lives

The involvement of the SJLCT plays a central role in this achievement. Their generosity ensures that Jamie’s Farm sustainable stays provide both financial security and meaningful opportunities for future generations. Additionally, their long-term perspective aligns perfectly with our commitment to giving young people the confidence, stability, and tools they need to succeed. We remain deeply grateful for their trust, their belief in our mission, and their dedication to supporting sustainable solutions that create lasting change.

As we look ahead, we feel excited about what these cabins will continue to provide. Since they generate income without taking anything away from our programme, they help us deliver the Jamie’s Farm approach exactly as intended. Young people still receive the same nurturing, structured, and therapeutic experience that defines our work, while the cabins offer visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of our landscapes in a responsible and supportive way.
